Taking The First Look
Dreams Playa Mujeres
We couldn’t believe we had the entire resort to ourselves.
Located in an exclusive gated community, this resort celebrated its grand opening on November 30, 2016, and took family resorts to the next level. As the first official guests to set foot on the property at Dreams Playa Mujeres, we were taken aback by its beauty. We immediately knew we had to make a Dreams Playa Mujeres review and video (click to watch below).
Waterpark
First of all, the waterslides are addicting. The two 328-foot beasts stood there in all their glory, just begging me to test them out. So I did… 15 times in a row! We also reveled in the three levels and 65,000 square feet of pool choices we had.
One of the best-hidden spots is the Grotto Swim-Up bar, where you can slide under the waterfall and grab a drink on the down-low. The addition of a lazy river was a unique feature and only for the use of preferred club guests. As a result, it’s usually not crowded which is a welcome bonus.
Our Room
We stayed in a preferred club room, the 1,162 sq. ft. Master Suite Swim-Out Ocean View King, with floor-to-ceiling sliding door windows, a stocked mini bar, and Bluetooth speaker system. A separate living space boasted a sectional sofa bed and a dining table that seats 4-6 people.
The heated swim-out pool was enjoyed thoroughly both day and night. On the terrace, we each had our own plush seating area plus a lounger to spread out on and relax. There were even outdoor electrical outlets, which made tanning and charging at the same time a beautiful reality.
In the bedroom, we had plenty of room on each side of the bed and a gorgeous view of the sunrise. We each had more than enough space in the bathroom both on the countertop and in hanger and shelf storage. I loved having access to a full-size mirror, shower, and jacuzzi tub in the comfort of our own space.
Activities
Whether it was golfing, biking or kayaking, we always had an endless choice of what we wanted to do each day. During the bike tour you learn about the different plants and animals in the area, stop to explore the flora & fauna, and discover the hidden gems surrounding the resort.
Kayaking in the Carribean sea was the most zen moment of our stay. We couldn’t get enough of the fresh air and the soothing sounds of the water.
Kids & Teens
There’s an Explorer’s Club for kids with supervised day and evening activities like treasure hunts, a kids theater, and weekly campout adventures. The Core Zone Teen Club has an impressive amount of activities including a climbing wall, batting cage, foam parties and both a Playstation 2 and Xbox 360.
Food
Each of the 7 a la carte restaurants has its own unique theme and menu; it was hard to choose a favorite. The Gaucho Restaurant, a contemporary rodizio, has the most extensive and delicious choices of meat we’ve encountered. On top of it all, their Brazilian sides selection choices were savory and full of flavor.
At the French restaurant, Le E’Toile, we revelled in the multi-course menu and top-notch entertainment. Stop by Dolce to enjoy a burned marshmallow cone. As for breakfast, you can order it straight to your room and enjoy a romantic meal on your balcony. Finally, consider upgrading to a private breakfast on the pool terrace. Not only do you get your very own buffet and personal waiters, you have the best view of the Caribbean Sea.
Unique Features
You don’t need to wear a wristband. Wearing a wristband isn’t my favorite thing, it’s uncomfortable and impedes my tan. And, you don’t need to make reservations. Making reservations for dinner while I’m on vacation is the worst, in my opinion, just let me live my life unscheduled! Do you need to make a phone call during your stay? They have an app for that! If you download the “Unlimited Connectivity” app, it not only gives you valuable information about the resort, it also allows you to call the US or Canada for free! Download it here.
Finally, the best feature of this resort is having access to the adults-only Secrets resort next door. Guests 18 and older can access all areas and facilities at the Secrets Playa Mujeres Resort just steps away. ALL OF THEM! That means more restaurants, spas, pools, activities, food, entertainment, and beach. It’s two resorts in one!
Overall Thoughts
Having a good time at Dreams Playa Mujeres Resort & Spa isn’t hard to do. With all of the activities, pools, food and unmatched service, we think you should consider it for your next vacation. After reading this Dreams Playa Mujeres Review, are you planning on visiting soon?
A huge thank you to Dreams Playa Mujeres for hosting us and having us at the first official guests of their new resort. Our opinions, as always, are entirely our own.

Did you really only have one lounger on the terrace? We booked the same room but I’ll be disappointed if there is only one lounger.
Hi LeAnn! Yes we did have one lounger on the terrace during our stay – however, we arrived on the first day the resort opened, so there could very well be two there now! 🙂
