Exploring the Royalton Riviera Cancun
Our first trip to a Royalton Resort & Spa will not be our last. Having visited several resorts over the past few months, we’ve absolutely found ‘patterns’ with certain brands of resorts. Want to know which patterns the Royalton Riviera Cancun has? Read below to find out! If you’re more of the visual type, watch our video below to see what we’re talking about.
The Food
We enjoyed the C/X culinary experience on our first night and were blown away by the delicacies that were presented to us. The freshly cut tuna sizzled on a hot lava rock to begin our extravagant food journey. Each dish had a unique and thoughtful pairing, including draft beer, wine and spirits. Our meal was concluded with a chocolate egg of joy, as I like to call it. When cracked open, it revealed several different treats inside including (but not limited to) cheesecake, truffle, and a chocolate surprise. This dessert absolutely embodied what an adult size elevated kinder egg should be, or at least what I imagine it to be. From the very first night, we knew that our time at the Royalton Riviera Cancun was going to be special.
Another favorite of ours was the variety and luxury of the breakfast buffet. I mean, what else do you feel but pure bliss when you see four different areas to get your daily fix of bacon, pastries, and pretty much anything your heart desires. This area even boasted an adults only section with both indoor and outdoor seating, which was a nice added touch.
The Room
Because we stayed in the Diamond Club we were positioned right in the middle of the resort. To our right was the adults-only Hideaway section, and to our left was the Luxury Section. The extras we received from being in the Diamond Club far surpassed other upgrades at other resorts. For a full list of our extra amenities you can check out our room review which includes a full review and list of services received (including a butler!).
Fun Amenities
There’s nothing that makes me happier than a fun float in the pool positioned under the afternoon sun. Unfortunately, when I pulled my new pineapple float out of my luggage, I realized it’s amazon owner may have had different plans for us. After having our freshly filled float deflate under me, Shadi remembered the existence of a store beside the children’s water park. Convinced that they could help, I brought our sad pineapple with me to the far side of the resort. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to the self proclaimed “float doctors” who patched not just one, but two surprise holes in the float. Not only that, they filled up our pineapple dreams while they were at it (hands up for their electric pump, such a time-saver!).
The gym was the most extensive we’ve ever experienced with treadmills overlooking the lush greenery surrounding the resort, the largest weight room and free space we’ve seen. This multi level dream gym also had the most variety of resistance and weight machines. A definite must-visit area at the Royalton Riviera Cancun, even if you don’t normally go to the gym.
