Secrets Aura Cozumel
A Review of the Island Oasis
Before arriving at Secrets Aura Cozumel we had already fallin’ in love with the Secrets brand of resorts. We only have good things to say about our past trip to Secrets Huatulco, which was our first experience with the adults-only, Secrets Resort & Spa brand. Located on the South West side of the Island of Cozumel, this resort offers spectacular views and romantic luxuries. It also has some of the best diving in the world!
Located on the South West side of the Island of Cozumel, this resort offers spectacular views and romantic luxuries. It also has some of the best diving in the world! The resort is about a 20-minute cab ride from the Cozumel airport or a slightly shorter ride from the Playa Del Carmen Ferry.
Room
Our third floor Ocean Front room with a King Size Bed (room 1038) was gorgeous. The balcony was huge, had a gorgeous wooden ceiling fan and a great view of both the ocean and the main pool. The room was spacious with both a sleeping area and lounge area (in addition to the balcony and large bathroom). The lounge area had a comfy corner couch, table, additional seating, storage, as well as a fridge. The balcony also had wooden chairs and a table. So many options as to where to eat our room service (and we used the bed too!). The bathroom was large and had a tiled, glass enclosed shower with rain-head spout.
Food
We attended three of the four restaurants on the resort and they were all good. We frequented the Market Café for breakfast as we love us a good buffet. Our favorite dinner spot was “Bordeau” which offered French cuisine in a chic atmosphere. Our favorite lunch spot was “Oceana” which had a variety of food options as well as a gorgeous view of the beach. They also had a buffet on the beach (Barefoot Grill) for lunch which was handy.
Amenities
On this particular property there were four pools, we had access to three of them as we didn’t have Preferred Suite rooms. Two of the pools had a great view of the beach and pier. We’d like to point out that endlessly floating around on ‘floaties’ is a must (staff will grab you one if you can’t find any)! There was a pool near the back of the resort which had many waterslides and other fun amenities surrounding it. We cannot express how important it is for you to utilize the water slides, they were beyond amazing! We also played ping pong, darts, and chess. We didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy archery but we did see that it was available. We received great poolside service at any pool we visited and were free to order food at any time (they’ll bring it right to you). Staff will bring you endless drinks and gave you the perfect amount of service (they didn’t disappear nor did they visit you too much).
Beach
The beach is gorgeous and there are two hammocks IN the water in addition to the many on the beach. The hammocks in the water allow for some great photos! We would definitely recommend bringing water shoes as it’s quite rocky in the water. There were many water activities’ available for a fee. However, they did offer snorkeling equipment for free (totally took advantage of this and had a blast). Although we didn’t have the pleasure to try scuba diving we were told by many that Cozumel has some of the best in the entire world. We plan to re-visit Cozumel once we’re more seasoned divers.
We had a great time at the beach party that was thrown and enjoyed the most delicious and large buffet. They offered a fire show and dance party and the entertainment staff did a great job at keeping the party going. We couldn’t help but get involved in the fun and made many great memories. We danced our hearts out during this fabulous beach bonanza!
Favorites
We loved room service; it was fast, served with a smile and tasted great. Make sure to check out the Sky Bar above the lobby for an incredible view, comfy lounge beds and top-notch drink service. What blew us away was that we had access to all of the restaurants (and everything else) on the adjacent resort, Sunscape!!! And what selections they had! This was something that we weren’t initially aware of and once we were, we didn’t waste any time to enjoy it. We both agree that this is really a huge perk to our experience at Secrets Aura Cozumel and is something that everyone should keep in mind when choosing a resort. We attended the Spa on the Sunscape property and were in awe with the services they offered. Check out the cool fish pool’s for your feet! There were also more romantic spots to enjoy… added bonus.
Overall, this resort gave us good service, fun activities, and the romantic and luxurious getaway that every couple deserves. Our top three features would have to be the views, the ability to also enjoy the food and fun of the Sunscape resort, and the romantic atmosphere of the resort. It’s hard to pick just three… so… we also LOVED the water-slide’s! Secrets Aura Cozumel is truly a couple’s paradise.
